Productive or Just Doing Busy Work In Your Young Living Business

What is your daily routine like? It is a good idea to step back once in a while and think about what you are doing in your business. Are you really doing things that are productive? Things that actually produce INCOME. If you are like me, you started building your Young Living business because you love the products and you can see the potential income. Whether you want supplemental income or you want full time income, it is important to be doing income producing activities on a DAILY basis.

John C. Maxwell said, “You will never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.”


It takes consistent, persistent, DAILY work. If you actually intend to generate income, your daily work must be productive, income producing work. It is all too easy to get caught up in time wasting “busy work” that really doesn’t do anything to grow your Young Living business.

Examples of busy work:

Constantly checking email.
Organizing your office.
Studying about the products.
Too much time on Facebook checking and updating your Facebook status.
Talking to the same prospects over and over instead of looking for new prospects.

All of these things are important but they must be focused. Checking email a couple times a day is important but not obsessively. Facebook is a powerful business tool but it can be easy to get drawn down a rabbit hole following links. Studying the products is important but it doesn’t generate income unless you are sharing the info with people.

Building Your List – This is an ongoing process. You should always work to grow your list. If you have a blog or a newsletter, you want to grow your list of subscribers. If you have a Facebook Business Page, and you should, you should be growing your list of followers. Your list is a powerful business asset. You must be regularly adding value to the people on your list. Whether email newsletter, snail mail, blog post or Facebook Page, share VALUE: oil tips, recipes and things they will benefit from. Not spamming with your signup link. Value posts will keep them coming back and eventually sign up. I have had people sign up after getting my newsletter for months or even years.

There are lots of income producing activities you can do every day. The important thing is to have a plan and focus on getting several top income producing activities done EVERY DAY.

Priorities and Consistency Keep Your Business Growing In Summer

It’s summer time again. This is a time when many distributors lose focus on their business because of gardening, vacations, conventions and lots of activities with the family.

It is a big mistake to slow down your marketing during summer months. You want to keep the momentum going and keep your business growing. You MUST set your priorities and keep moving forward. Successful marketers are in marketing mode every day, everywhere. We don’t build our business in spurts, working for a little while, then neglecting our business for days or weeks. There are plenty of ways to keep your business moving even while you are having fun.


Here are a few easy ways to keep your Young Living Business growing through the summer months.

1. Always carry some oils with you. Remember, busy times are the best because you usually come across more people to talk to. There are lots of ways to do this that feel natural and easy. Be aware of the people around you and the issues they are dealing with. You have things that can help. These days most people are stressed out in one way or another. Share a bit of StressAway or some other oil.


Just wearing oils will often cause people to ask questions. Don’t miss the opportunity to mention something about Young Living Essential Oils. I DON’T mean a sales pitch here. Just a teaser comment. Let the conversation flow naturally.


2. Always carry a sharing packet, well stocked with some brochures and whatever you like to share with people. Don’t forget to take your business with you on vacation. There are always opportunities to share and possibly even write off your trip as a business expense. Make sure you have your web site and phone number on every brochure or marketing material.


3. Use Prosperity & Success or Wellness Newspapers as leave behinds and as a powerful prospecting tool. These are my favorite marketing tool. They are always in my sharing packet and I take them with me on vacation to give to people I make contact with. I use these instead of business cards and I often just leave them in places where people will find them.

4. Wear clothes and accessories with Young Living logo on them. They are great conversation starters. There are some great options on the Young Living Gear website.


5. Put a window decal on your car – don’t put company name but put something about therapeutic grade essential oils with a link that directs people to YOUR web site.


6. Check in every morning and evening with email and Facebook. This is especially important if you are doing Facebook or other internet marketing. You need to keep up to date with any important news but most importantly, you need to respond to any interest.


7. Post Daily on your Facebook Page – Daily posting is very important. You can not expect to grow your following or build a business with on again and off again activity. There are lots of ways to keep marketing your business when you go through busy times. The key is to always be aware of the opportunities around you and keep doing something daily that makes progress.



How To Build Influence

This is a very powerful statement. As distributors, we are sharing Young Living products and the business opportunity. You can not be successful in this business if you do not believe in both the products and the opportunity. You must first be influenced before you can influence others.

How do we influence ourselves and build belief?

Here are a few ways:

    1. Using the Products – Using the products is the first way to start influencing yourself. You will find certain products that you just love. Young Living has a LOT of products to fall in love with. When you love something, it is easy to talk about.

    2. Attend Events – You should be attending as many Young Living events as you possibly can. Whenever you can get together with other distributors you can learn from each other. Not only learning but energizing each other. There is so much excitement and power that comes from mixing with other distributors working toward similar goals.

    3. Listen to audios and videos – There are loads of audios and videos put out by Young Living, your upline and other network marketing trainers. Serious network marketers are listening to these trainings as much as possible. The more you listen, the more you will be able to speak up about things that will help other people.

    Try to listen to something every day, especially whenever you have a day where you are feeling unmotivated or discouraged. Every day do something to grow in your skills and your belief in the products and the network marketing industry. Very important to be learning about Young Living Farms and Seed to Seal process. This is HUGE. No other essential oil or network marketing company does what Young Living does.

    4. Attend Conference Calls – Listening to and even participating in conference calls is another awesome way to build belief, grow skills and influence. There are a lot of conference calls you can access. It is impossible to be on all of them. Usually these conference calls are recorded so you can listen anytime.

    5. Read Books – I know, you already know reading books is important but I am always amazed how few books people actually read. Read books by successful network marketers, Young Living leaders, motivational speakers like John Maxwell, Jim Rohn, Eric Worre, etc.

    6. Subscribe to Newsletters & Blogs – There are loads of blogs and newsletters that you can benefit from. It is particularly important to subscribe to all upline newsletters you can find.

    Also subscribe to newsletters and blogs on marketing, personal development and things related to Young Living or network marketing in general. I also recommend subscribing to industry journals like Network Marketing Times Magazine.

    7. Join Facebook Groups by leaders – Not only join but pay attention to what the leaders are posting. Facebook has become a HUGE tool in training and keeping updated with all kinds of Young Living news and training. It’s pretty awesome.

These are just a few things that will help build belief and passion for the product and the business. Make it a DAILY commitment to do something to grow your passion and influence. That will help your business grow.

Secret Key To Sponsoring Every Week

There is a secret that that successful marketers know that ensures they sponsor people every week and every month. It’s really not that much of a secret but to some network marketers it seems to be a concept that is difficult to grasp.


The secret is having a marketing mindset. That means that you have marketing in mind at all times, even when you are doing things totally not related to business.


I can’t stress enough that you need to keep marketing in mind at all times. If you really want to earn income with your Young Living business, you need to have marketing in mind every day. What does that mean? It doesn’t mean pitching people all the time but it does mean that you are ready when the opportunity arises.


When you have marketing in mind, you are prepared, alert and actually looking for ways to promote. Promotion can be dropping seeds that may not produce something right away. It can be as simple as using oils in front of people and wearing certain oils whenever you are in public so people comment on how good you smell. I wear Abundance oil ALWAYS. It smells great and people comment on it. You can respond by saying, “It’s a therapeutic grade essential oil blend called Abundance. It’s one of my favorite mood uplifting oils, plus it attracts good things.” Then . . .


Whenever you talk to people about why you smell so great, hand them one of your Health Journal Newspapers. I use these more than my business cards. They are very powerful tools. Be sure your WEB SITE address is on the back. Phone number too but web site is vital.


Don’t forget to use oils regularly in front of people and be prepared to respond with a short comment to see if there is interest. As I mentioned earlier, have something to give people who are interested. This is where I really love the essential oils newspapers.


There are lots of ways to promote your business but you should always be using at least 3-5 marketing methods at all times. If you do this EVERY Day, and always keep marketing in mind, no matter what you are doing, you will be able to sponsor people EVERY month.
