Welcome to Young Living Business Builders. This website is brought to you by Melodie Kantner, Brandon Kantner and Melissa Boice.

We have been successfully building our Young Living business since 1997. This blog is about Young Living Business Success. Building your business in a way that feels natural and easy. I have always used and taught ways that get people to come to YOU. To ask YOU questions about the oils. I never liked the old style network marketing ways that make you feel icky.

If it’s not comfortable and FUN, it will be difficult to build a business. We are all about enjoying the journey.

How are you building your business? Most of us start out building our business around other things we are doing. That’s the way I started my Young Living career nearly 20 years ago. I saw the potential for working from home and freedom both time and financially.

If you are like me, and had to start building your business around a job, you will need to build your Young Living business part time.

There is something very important you need to keep in mind. The way you approach your business will determine whether or not you are successful. There is a big difference between part time and spare time. If you are building your business in your spare time you will NOT be successful. It’s as simple as that.

When you build your business in spare time, you are putting it’s importance in last place. There will always be things that crowd out the daily tasks. Things just don’t get done. Maybe once in a while you dabble at your business but nothing that is consistent and making forward progress.

If you want to seriously earn an income in with your Young Living business, you MUST get rid of the SPARE TIME approach to building your business. The spare time marketer does the business once in a while when they have some extra time. A strong business is not built that way.

Building your business part time means that you have a schedule. When you have a part time job, you have certain hours you devote to your job. You show up and do the work on schedule. When you apply this principle to your business it becomes a serious, progressive business, even if you are working it part time in the beginning. If you stick with it and work part time instead of spare time, you will get there.

Newton’s First Law of Motion states, “An object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion.”

Daily action is how a successful business grows, even if you have to work it part time. The daily action must be income producing action. Keep keep thinking in marketing mindset and have sharing materials with you at all times. Talk with people, use marketing materials, follow up on interest, then help your new distributors do the same. Make a plan and work your plan every day.

Jim Rohn said it best, “I am now working full time on my job and part time on my fortune.”

There is an old saying “when you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” That applies to any endeavor but especially to your Young Living Business.

Success in any endeavor, starts with a goal. The only way to have a profitable business is to set goals and take income producing action. An average person with clearly defined, written goals will run circles around a genius without them.

Goals and a plan are what guide you. Average people do not have a plan. They get caught up in busywork because of overwhelm. Overwhelm leads to doubt and fear that paralyzes them . When you are not working from a plan, you end up spinning your wheels.

Know your WHY
Part of setting up goals is to know WHY you are doing this. What do you want to accomplish?

Be Specific
Set goals that actually mean something. Don’t just set a goal that you want to earn more money. The goals must be specific and you must write them down. If your goal is income related, don’t just say I want more income. Make is specific. Let’s say, an income goal of earning $2,000 a month in your Young Living Business. Set a time frame or a deadline in which you can realistically accomplish that goal. I like to set a time frame, then work to beat my time frame. If you miss your deadline, simply reset the deadline and keep working on it. Sometimes things happen that effect your timeline. If that happens, no biggie, just reset the deadline and keep moving toward it.

Set Smaller Goals as Stepping Stones goals1b
Once you decide what goals you have, the next step is to set small goals that are stepping stones to get you to your bigger goals. If your goal is an income amount, what are you going to do to make it happen. What daily activities are you going to do to get you there. Write down those goals too. I like to make a list of monthly goals every month on the first of the month.

Make a Plan of ACTION
Make a list of all the things you will do take steps toward reaching your goal. Use as many details as possible.

Examples:

How many people do you want to talk to every day or every week?
How many business cards, flyers or other promotional pieces will you give out?
How many Drop Cards will you leave?
How many postcards will you mail?
How many Oil Classes will you teach?
How many One on One Oil Meetings will have with prospects?
How many Social Media contacts will you make every day?
How many follow up phone calls?
How many articles will you write?
How many emails will you respond to?
How many info packets will you mail out?
How many Care Packages will you send?

How many SUCCESS MINDSET, Personal Development books, audios, videos, etc?
How many training audios will you listen to?

I could go on and on here with things you could add to your plan. Be detailed, write it down, add things as you need to and keep moving. Make your plan of action, then take ACTION.

Visualize Yourself Reaching Your Goal
Visualization is very important in working toward reaching your goal. You should do some visualization every day. Try to be as clear and vivid as possible. Visualize what you will be doing and how you will act once you reach your goal. I like to lay in bed before I sleep with a bit of visualization.

A Visualization Tool I Use:
Many years ago I had the idea that I could make a check that looks like my company bonus check. A check written to me in the amount of my goal. I made a scan of one of my bonus checks and saved it as an image template that I could update as my goal changed. My first income goal was $1,000 a month but I decided that I wanted it to look like a real number rather than a pretend check so I made it $1158.15. I printed it so I could have it visible on my desk so I could see it every day while I work. Once I reached that goal, I made another one for $2158.15. Every time I reached my goal, I made up a new check with another thousand added to it.

In the beginning, having the checks increase by $1,000 seemed easier to believe in. I still do this. I always have a check with my current income goal that I am working toward. Having it printed and on my desk makes it easier to visualize it.

Another visualization tool is the Visualize Silver Mind Movie

I also do EFT for clearing blocks to my income goals. Two EFT videos by Margaret Lynch. Tap through these DAILY. You can start with the $1,000.00 a month, then proceed to the $3,000. a month. Or, you can jump straight to the $3,000.00 a month.

Tapping helps you remove any resistance to increasing income. You may not think you have blocks to increasing income but subconscious programming can cause us to sabotage by procrastinating and lots of other ways. EFT can clear that.

Whatever goals you have, keep working toward them. Never give up.

“To influence someone, you have to already be influenced. To move someone, you better be moved. You can’t touch someone about your products if you are not touched. To persuade others you have to be persuaded. You can’t give somebody else what you don’t have.” ~ Tony Robbins

influence

This is a very powerful statement. As distributors, we are sharing Young Living products and the business opportunity. You can not be successful in this business if you do not believe in both the products and the opportunity. You must first be influenced before you can influence others.

How do we influence ourselves and build belief?

Here are a few ways:

    1. Using the Products – Using the products is the first way to start influencing yourself. You will find certain products that you just love. Young Living has a LOT of products to fall in love with. When you love something, it is easy to talk about.

    2. Attend Events – You should be attending as many Young Living events as you possibly can. Whenever you can get together with other distributors you can learn from each other. Not only learning but energizing each other. There is so much excitement and power that comes from mixing with other distributors working toward similar goals.

    3. Listen to audios and videos – There are loads of audios and videos put out by Young Living, your upline and other network marketing trainers. Serious network marketers are listening to these trainings as much as possible. The more you listen, the more you will be able to speak up about things that will help other people.

Try to listen to something every day, especially whenever you have a day where you are feeling unmotivated or discouraged. Every day do something to grow in your skills and your belief in the products and the network marketing industry. Very important to be learning about Young Living Farms and Seed to Seal process. This is HUGE. No other essential oil or network marketing company does what Young Living does.

    4. Attend Conference Calls – Listening to and even participating in conference calls is another awesome way to build belief, grow skills and influence. There are a lot of conference calls you can access. It is impossible to be on all of them. Usually these conference calls are recorded so you can listen anytime.

    5. Read Books – I know, you already know reading books is important but I am always amazed how few books people actually read. Read books by successful network marketers, Young Living leaders, motivational speakers like John Maxwell, Jim Rohn, Eric Worre, etc.

    6. Subscribe to Newsletters & Blogs – There are loads of blogs and newsletters that you can benefit from. It is particularly important to subscribe to all upline newsletters you can find.

Also subscribe to newsletters and blogs on marketing, personal development and things related to Young Living or network marketing in general. I also recommend subscribing to industry journals like Network Marketing Times Magazine.

    7. Join Facebook Groups by leaders – Not only join but pay attention to what the leaders are posting. Facebook has become a HUGE tool in training and keeping updated with all kinds of Young Living news and training. It’s pretty awesome.

These are just a few things that will help build belief and passion for the product and the business. Make it a DAILY commitment to do something to grow your passion and influence. That will help your business grow.

Procrastination is a problem for many network marketers. The days are ticking by one after another. Don’t let procrastination cause you to miss out on this opportune time to build a successful Young Living business. Every day that you don’t do some work on your business, self improvement and training are putting you one step further away from your goals.

Tips to help with Procrastination:

    1. Know WHY you are building this business and think about it every day. Then decide what you will do TODAY that will take you one step closer to your goal.

todo2. Make a list of the IMPORTANT things you want to accomplish today. I start my to do list in the afternoon for the next day’s activities. I put it under my mouse so it is the first thing I see when I sit down at my computer.

Some of the things on your list need to be things that will actually cause you to increase income – Getting people to your web site, putting marketing materials out, talking to prospects, etc.

    3. Prioritize your list. Decide which things are most important on the list. Do those tasks first, before checking email or Facebook. I find this especially important if I plan to make social media graphics or write articles. It is easy to get sidetracked with other things and never get around to things you had planned to do to grow your business.

    4. Big jobs can be broken down into parts. Part of your daily routine should be reading success books and training. I have several books I am in the process of reading. I read a bit from each every day. Even 15 minutes a day reading will be a positive step forward.

    5. Make a plan and take action. Decide how much time you will spend each week on your business. Then plan what you will do during that time.

    6. Do some EFT to help release some of the causes of procrastination.

I recommend at a minimum of talking to at least two new prospects every day… that is 60 a month. If you recruit just 10%, you will have 6 new recruits personally sponsored every month.

You will never be perfect. You don’t have to get it perfect, you just have to get it going.

We have all heard the expression, “You never get a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression!” This is really true when it comes to Social Media Marketing. Your cover photo is important but your personal photo is actually even more important.

Do you have your picture on your profile? You should have a personal photo of your smiling face. Large businesses can use their logo or some other image but you are not a large faceless corporation, you are a professional network marketer. As network marketers, our goal on Social Media is to connect and build relationships with people, then share our love of essential oils. We are also connecting with our team and helping them learn to do the same.
topsecret
You want to be approachable and real. Not a shadowy figure of mystery. You want people to feel they know and trust you. You can help express that with a nice photo head shot with your smiling face. A smile speaks volumes. Your personal profile picture should not be a picture of your kid, pet, your team logo, Young Living products, lavender fields or anything else. You can put those in your cover photo. That also will help people get to know a bit about you, but put it in the cover.

welcomingYou can have a picture of you WITH your pet. That works even better. I don’t know how many times I have had conversations with people about my parrot when he was living because I used to include him in my pictures. Barney was very helpful in opening dialog with people some of whom, eventually became distributors in Young Living.

Think about the picture you use for your profile. It should be dignified but friendly and approachable. We are in a relationship building business. Your profile picture should be a head shot with your smiling face.

Another reason to consider your profile picture is that it appears in the News feed of your followers, posts on your page’s Timeline, replies in comments. As you spend more time making posts and commenting on other people’s posts, your face will become familiar to people you interact with on a regular basis.
